Hi Lo 13 European Blackjack Gold Series is a blackjack variant that can be played only at Microgaming online casinos. Because it is a Gold Series table game, the table layout on the screen is elegant and the casino ambience is classier than in the regular games. Though many Microgaming blackjack variants are offered as multi hand games, Hi Lo 13 European Blackjack is available only as a single hand game.

It is important that players realize that they are wagering at a European Blackjack variant. No hole card will be dealt to the dealer and the dealer will not check for blackjack up front. This marginally increases the house edge. However, this game is played with only two decks instead of the usual eight decks. This compensates by marginally reducing the house edge. The complete rules can be seen by moving the cursor over the Rules icon. The main rules of the base game are as follows. The dealer stands on all 17. The player can double down only on two-card hand values of 9, 10 or 11. The player can split only once to make two hands. Unlike 10 value cards cannot be split. A split ace and 10 value card counts as 21 and not blackjack. The table limits vary from 1 credit to 200 credits.

The Hi Lo 13 part of this online blackjack variant calls for a more detailed explanation. There are three optional bets available to the player. None of these bets can be placed unless the player places a wager in the main game. Players can wager on any number of the optional bets, though it makes more sense to bet on one of them at a time. These bets have different table limits, the minimum being 1 credit and the maximum being 25 credits for each bet. The Hi Lo 13 bets are decided by the first two cards dealt to the player. The Lo bet wins if the two-card hand value is less than 13. The Hi bet wins if the two-card hand value is more than 13. The 13 bet wins if the two-card hand value is 13. Players must note that for the Hi Lo 13 bets the aces have to be valued at 1 only. All other cards are valued as in blackjack. The Hi and Lo bets pay out at 1 to 1 and the 13 bet pays out at 10 to 1.

The default strategy card has been provided by Microgaming for the main European Blackjack game. It functions like the normal blackjack strategy card. In Hi Lo 13 European Blackjack players can activate the auto play feature using the strategy card. This is a fantastic innovation available in most Microgaming online blackjack variants. This is done through the Expert Mode. Players can wager on up to 500 deals in auto play without manual intervention and at optimum strategy. Players can also set the number of seconds between deals. The auto play can be aborted if certain conditions are selected. These include a win exceeding a specified amount, the credits increasing by a specified amount and the credits decreasing by a specified amount. Hi Lo 13 European Blackjack can be played at Microgaming online casinos like Royal Vegas, 32Red and Spin Palace.
