Caesar's Sets Positive Expectations Set for Nevada's Online Gambling Scene
Published: September 17, 2013
One of the largest brick and mortar casino companies in the world, Caesars Entertainment, is planning to launch an online poker site using the World Series of Poker brand (WSOP). The site will launch on Thursday morning (yes, this Thursday!) and it will offer a variety of casino games, and the big plus is that it will offer a Mac friendly version for the Apple lovers.
Caesars Entertainment's new online gambling site will launch exclusively for Nevada players, but the company announced that they are supporting efforts that will enable them to offer their services to players in other states. The launch will mark the beginning of Nevada's Gaming Control Board's field trial for online gambling sites. During this time players and regulators will be testing and analyzing all aspects of the games. If the outcome of the reviews is positive, the site will be granted a permanent license to operate by the end of 2013.
“I think this is really the beginning of a domino effect, the same way that the state of Nevada started licensed land-based casino gaming and it proliferated across the United States, North America, Australia, Macau and Singapore. We believe that the digital age is going to repeat that very same pattern, and Nevada will once again play a leadership role,” said Mitch Garber, CEO of Caesars Interactive.
The expectations is that the WSOP brand will attract a high amount of players, since it is one of the largest brands for poker games all around the world. Caesars reported that approximately 12,000 Nevada residents have already signed up for an account and are awaiting the official launch to start playing. The WSOP site has a partnership with 888 Holdings Plc., the company has been deveopoing online casino software for 16 years and it is one of the most respected and reliable online casino software provides in the world. 888 Holding's reputation has only boosted players' interest in checking out Caesars Entertainment's new site.
All players who wish to play must be over 21 years of age and provide proof of identity. So far, the launch of this site has boosted hope for those expecting to see legalized online gambling in the whole US territory. “Delaware has legalized online poker. This momentum, we believe, is real, and the state of Nevada is at the very cutting edge and the beginning of what we think is going to be a very large wave of future legalization of online poker and online gaming.”
