On 28 September 2018, the Mega Progressive of Microgaming’s Mega Moolah jackpot hit for a massive €18,915,872.81. Given the enormity of the event one would expect a media blitz. This is not only the biggest hit ever on Mega Moolah, but also the biggest hit ever on any progressive jackpot at any online casino. However, the winning player wished to remain anonymous and that took a lot of news out of the equation.

We do not know the gender of the winner, nor the nationality. There has not been one big progressive jackpot winner that has not been stunned, so the same would probably apply in this case. And with almost €19 million in the bag, the shopping list is bound to be endless. But some interesting conclusions can be arrived at from the information revealed.

The bet range in Mega Moolah is from 25 cents to €6.25. The progressive jackpot bonus round has more likelihood to trigger with larger bets. This winner triggered the round with a bet of only 75 cents. This shows that low roller players can also hit this humongous progressive jackpot and will be an encouragement to online casino players with smaller bankrolls. Microgaming has also revealed that the win came from an Android mobile device. The Mega Moolah progressive has been hit from a mobile device before, but the frequency of wins from this has been increasing.

The biggest piece of information that has been put in the public domain by Microgaming is that the jackpot was hit at Grand Mondial online casino. Grand Mondial is a brand of the Casino Rewards group, which probably has the maximum number of online casinos. Players from many of these online casinos have won the Mega Moolah jackpot. Emma Hall Promotions Manager at Casino Rewards added some information to that released by Microgaming. At the outset she was hoping that this record breaking jackpot hit would come at a Casino Rewards online casino. It came in less than 50 spins. Casino Rewards has seen five huge Mega Moolah winners in the past 12 months and now the sixth winner has absolutely smashed all records yet.

David Reynolds Games Publisher at Microgaming also said a few words. The Microgaming team has been on the edge of the seats in anticipation of the Mega Moolah jackpot being hit since it crossed the 12-million barrier. As with all wins on Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network, the winner will receive the prize as a lump sum and not in annuities. To date, Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network has paid out over €948 million.
