The latest news release from Microgaming is bound to warm the hearts of the old timers. A decade and a half ago Microgaming released the first ever online branded slot featuring Lara Croft, the sexy adventuress. The press release says, “To mark the 15th anniversary of a longstanding partnership with Square Enix for the Lara Croft brand, Microgaming has renewed its agreement to produce a third branded online slot game.”

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was created by Microgaming in 2004. At that that time the brand was owned by Eidos Interactive. The second Lara Croft slot game was Secret of the Sword. It sent players on a global hunt to collect fragments of the sword and assemble them for bonus payouts. Both video slots have been available since then without break at Microgaming online casinos like 32Red, Spin Palace and All Slots. During this period the online casino industry has seen many branded slots being withdrawn due to annulment or non-renewal of agreements. So the industry’s longest-running branded relationship penned 15 years ago is something that is worth celebrating.

The third Lara Croft video slot will be released in 2019. The new game will once again feature the fearless heroine on a new quest of unearthing ancient trails and rewarding discoveries. The players will participate in the adventures through some exciting gaming features. The branded slot is being developed by Triple Edge Studios, an independent studio that is providing innovative, high-quality content exclusively for Microgaming. Triple Edge has created some fantastic branded slots like Halloween and Playboy Gold. So players can look forward to a fantastic product. Microgaming will be unveiling the latest Lara Croft slot along with the game’s official at ICE Totally Gaming 2019. Microgaming has also indicated that there will be other big reveals in the expo that takes place in February.

Lara Croft is one of the most iconic and popular characters across several media. The first ever Tomb Raider video game was released in October 1996. Since then the brand has totalled sales of over 67 million units, making Lara Croft the best-selling video game heroine. Lara Croft entered the movie world in 2001 through Tomb Raider, where Angelina Jolie essayed her character. The icon has since transcended into other forms of branding and merchandising. Janet Swallow, Vice President of Licensing at Square Enix West, said, “We look forward to continue working with Microgaming to develop another successful branded online slot game.”
