If you have accessed the Royal Vegas online casino web site of late, you may have found some subtle changes. Earlier, the entire collection of online casino games was displayed at the web site for everyone to see. You did not have to log in. In fact you did not have to be a member of Royal Vegas online casino. But now only a sample set of games is displayed on the web site. When you click the More Games button you will be asked to sign up or log in.

There are some associated changes as well. Earlier you could play almost any game for free in the demo mode without signing up or logging in. Only the progressive jackpots and live casino games were excluded. Now you have to be a member and have to log in before you can play even in the demo mode. You may also notice that the search engine has been removed.

This is not the case with only Royal Vegas or brands of the Fortune Lounge group to which it belongs. Quite a few online casinos have effected this change. It is not that these online casinos have suddenly become less user-friendly or are acting to protect their games. There is a valid reason for the change, though it appears not to have been put out in the public domain. It has to do with increased social responsibility that is being pushed through by regulatory authorities like the UK Gambling Commission working in conjunction with the Committees of Advertising Practice.

Adequate precautions are being taken by online casinos to prevent minors from signing up and playing with real money. But there is no way of preventing minors from browsing through the web sites of online casinos. Therefore under the latest CAP guidance, online casinos have been asked to control the content that is placed on the web sites. Eliminating the facility to play for free in the demo mode is an obvious step in this direction.

Some games have graphics, and even titles, not suited for minors. So the online casinos do not feature these on their web sites. It has been found that references to cartoons attract children sometimes to the point of being addictive. These are also not displayed on the web site. There is a flip side. Online casinos will lose reaching out to a section of their legitimate market. But the greater overall well-being has to prevail.
